SKIN DISORDERS: CHILBLAINS AND CUTS

Chilblains

Urine: wash area regularly with urine and apply urine compresses.

Herbs: make up a strong infusion of calendula flowers (1 cup) to 250 ml boiling water, brew for 2 hours. Saturate a bandage in the infusion and apply to the area .

Essential oils: make a mixture of any of the following oils, black pepper, chamomile, geranium, ginger, lavender, lemon, rosemary or tea tree. Add 7 drops of essential oils, diluted into 5 ml of sweet almond oil and massage it into affected area.

Kombucha: massage kombucha cream into the skin, only if the skin is unbroken.

Foods: roast an onion for a poultice and apply to chilblains or on minor frostbite. The inside of a baked potato, smear with oil apply to the frostbite area. Rub ripe strawberries over the chilblain area daily. Brew a tea of strawberry leaves and soak the chilblains.

Cuts

Urine: wash with fresh urine for it is an excellent antiseptic

Food: apply a generous amount of honey to any laceration, then cover with gauze and tape. Repeat daily until the cut heals.

Essential oils: lavender, eucalyptus, lemon, tea tree, niaouli and pine fight infection and promote healing. Bathe the affected areas with a solution of 10 drops of either of the essential oils to 1/2 litre of warm water. For chapped skin make up an oil blend to massage over the chapped area by adding 15 drops of one or a combination of essential oils to 30 ml of almond oil.

Kombucha: apply kombucha tea to a cut to wash the wound.

Herbs: make up a herbal infusion to wash cuts.
